linky-lou number three

::via painted fish studios

here are some links i've gathered to some cool projects you might want to check out.

gift bows

::via craftster.org

if you are like me, you have more scraps than you know what to do with. this tutorial for making bows out of paper is one answer to getting rid of some of it. wrap a small gift in a piece of pp - then make a bow out of coordinating pp! too cute!

coming tomorrow linky-lou - so check back!

::via craftzine

following on the heels of the post about rings yesterday. zephyrama explains how to make this oh so cute button necklace. basically all you need is jewelry wire, buttons, pliers and a clasp! gasp! i might need to head to michael's this evening! and if that isn't enough here's a bracelet too!

button rings

::via sew bettie

do you love buttons as much as i do? aren't these the cutest? i love the vintage-y buttons. you can buy the kits at sew bettie - but i'm sure some of you clever readers could think of how to do this with the buttons in your stash. bettie uses elastic here. i bet a trip to the craft store would yield a cheap flat ring that you could hot glue the button stack to as well for a new sew option! :)

father's day frame

martha showcased this father's day frame on craft of the day. this would be so easy to do with an electronic cutter. she provides the template though for those of us who love their exacto blades! the frame uses two paper clips to keep it standing up. easy peasy and such a cute father's day gift! you could easily make this into a card that converts to the frame as well.

guest designer @ jbs

i mentioned on that last thread that i was working on some layouts for a guest design gig. well they are now up - i was fortunate to be asked to design for this month's jenni bowlin kit. it's a lovely kit full of primary colors and fun embellishments. i love that i would have never selected these papers for myself, yet somehow they really work with my style! i also found out that i really miss designing for a kit club. maybe i will look into trying out for one again soon.

lightbulb moment

tonight i was working on a guest design gig and wanted to add journaling to a lined journal card. i always struggle with setting this up in word and end up printing the journaling 50 times before it's just right.

tonight was different!! first i scanned in my journal card. then i uploaded it to photoshop and made sure the lines were straight. (see above)

then using the text tool, i typed each line on the lined paper. like this...

just keep adding a new type layer for each line. when you have all of your lines in, select your type layers and go to layer - align layers - left edges. then you will end up with something like this...

now print this out on regular old computer paper then you can easily match up the edges and adhere your "real" journaling card over the top.

now you are probably wondering - how does she not print that computer scanned journal card over the top of the "real" journal card?

simply scroll down to the bottom of your layers palette, and click on the little eyeball next to the background layer.

it came out perfectly on the first try! woot woot!

sweetwater house

have you seen the tour of sweetwater house that angie lucas is giving on the simple blog this week? looks awesome doesn't it - great food, cute surroundings, awesome projects. i was intrigued! so i looked up the details - only $299 for the whole weekend! i guess simple is running a promotion right now too - if you sign up for one of the upcoming simple-hosted weekends, you'll get $50 off if you sign up by June 16th. you can check out the line up here and find out how to sign up. i know i'd love to meet margaret, beth, cheryl, elizabeth, etc. i'd also love to spend more time with tina, candice, rebecca, and lain! a weekend away from the errands and the whole time scrappin' - that would be heaven!
