july project life

well i gave it a shot, i ended up with more pages than i normally do for a month. i think it went a little faster though. less editing back the photos for sure. i did everything in steps - select photos, edit all the photos, place all the photos, fill in with journaling cards, add embellishments and labels, journal. i was able to include more filler cards and more journaling i think. i also had time to add more details. it was fun shopping my stash!

eta: fixed spelling mistakes and that empty label! lol!

project life week 26

i think this ends the weekly project life. i haven't taken enough photos in july to merit doing it week by week. so i'm going to move to a monthly format. multiple pages by month. i hope to start working on july this week. i have all the photos culled out. i just have to figure out how i'm going to do the spreads and incorporate my second saturday photos. stay tuned!

Get It Scrapped CT Blog Hop

Welcome to the Get It Scrapped Creative Team Blog Hop!

I am so super excited to be joining the creative ladies below on a year-long endeavor at Get It Scrapped. I've taught a critique seminar over the past year there as well I've participated in a few Masterful Scrapbook Design seminars. Debbie Hodge is a wonder woman and her enthusiasm for scrapbooking really rubs off on me. She inspires me to create pages with her fabulous prompts and articles all the time. I figure the assignments each month will keep my pages fresh and exciting. I can't wait to get started!

As you hop along each team member will be sharing their favorite article at Get It Scrapped and sharing some awesome discounts on Masterful Scrapbook Design issues - so be sure to catch each stop!

Use Geometric Shapes on Your Scrapbook Pages For Interest, Stability, and Energy

There are so many great articles over at Get It Scrapped. You could read for days and find inspiration in each and every one. I chose the article Use Geometric Shapes on Your Scrapbook Pages for Interest, Stability, and Energy. I loved the example pages in the article and I'm a huge fan of using repetitive geometric shapes on my pages. the article really inspired me to play with geometric shapes.

Supplies: kits (Stencils no. 1 by Creashens at Pixels and Co., Stargazer by One Little Bird at The Lilypad, A Beautiful Mess Splatters by Just Jaimee at Pixels and Co., At the Thrift Shoppe by Jennifer Barrette at Sweet Shoppe Designs, Papery Stuffs by Dawn by Design at Pixels & Co.) + Masks(Cut.It.Out Clipping Masks by Robyn Meierotto at Pixels and Co.) stitching(In Stitches Neutral Basics by Robyn Meierotto at Pixels & Co., Sewing Kit 1 by Agnes Biro (retired)) + fonts (DBJ Celeste from Darcy Baldwin at Sweet Shoppe Designs)

For this page, I used a stencil mask and clipped a neutral kraft cardstock to it. I played around with different base colors and patterns, but when all was said and done I loved the texture of the tone on tone. So I placed the exact same cardstock under my stencil. I think the geometric background adds a playfulness to the page while not being overtly in your face.

And now an amazing discount for you...

This is an in-depth and rich exploration of “layering-it-on!” It covers reasons to layer–what layers do for a scrapbook page–as well as how to go about layering, including the kinds of materials that are available and the ways in which you can explore and express meaning with your choices. In the interviews you’ll get new ideas and insights from paper and digital scrapbookers — and the interesting thing about this is that the ideas translate wonderfully between mediums. Articles and even a spray-ink video as well as 100+ annotated layouts will provide ideas and inspiration for all.

You can pick up your copy of Layering. Just place this issue of Masterful Scrapbook Design in your cart and apply the coupon code: “giscttscs60p”. That's 60 percent off and the coupon is good through June 3rd!
