ki memories blog challenge

Tracy Miller has posted the weekly blog challenge over at the KI Memories blog. I'm participating for the first time wheee! My layout features the only photo I was able to capture of my son on the first day of school - the stinker just didn't want his photo taken! :) I used the new KI Memories School Days line. The strips above the journaling are actually from the School Days Multi Stripe paper - such an efficient way to get strips on a page! I added my journaling through the printer directly on the School Days Penmanship paper. For fun, I added one of the School Days Patches for the title and the cute apple from the School Days Chipboard Shapes pack. Click on the layout to see it larger. Go play along!

the beckoning of lovely

if you haven't seen this, please take a moment and watch. it's, well, lovely. amy krouse rosenthal initiated a fantastically cool art party among strangers in chicago on 08/08/08 at 8:08 pm. then she made a video for us all to enjoy.

i am giddy

just giddy about this.

two posts in one day

i finished my pre-work for cathy zielske's class. it took me forever. i think i spent an hour grabbing items out of my stash and another 4 hours putting it all together. all for this pretty simple layout about me. crazy huh? not one piece of full pp was cut to make this - all from scraps! yay me! here are some close ups of the squares...

i'll be back to my regular inspiration posts tomorrow. :) well maybe one more post today we'll see. ;)

it's up

well those of you who would like to see the full blown projects from my sneaks can take a look at the new kenner road site. the kits are gorgeous and the design team created some fabulous projects! game hog is my favorite layout from the bunch and the one i did at the very end with leftover bits. the little hedgehog tag is too cute and i love the thread bobbin at the top too!

debut

kenner road's september kit debuts tonight. can't wait to see everyone's work and the new site. here is one of my projects from the kit. there is an add-on project kit available as well. the overlay from fancy pants is very different for me - i had fun trying to work it into my style.

treading water

ever have one of those weeks where you feel like you are treading water? that's been my week. my little guy had a fever virus for six days - that's six days of waiting on him hand and foot - getting up in the night to give him motrin etc. i'm pooped. the bigger one started homework this week - he's in second grade - i might be naive but an hour of homework plus 20 minutes of reading seems like a lot. my poor boy!

so long story short...ye olde blog is getting a little dusty and the links are piling up. so without further ado some ideas for you...

ali had a great post on using recycled materials
cute magnets from angry chicken
here's a bunch of free clip art
covering textbooks with pretty paper from martha
downloadable designs for printing your own notecards at etsy
glueless paper chains - how fun!
free printable patterns - love the fish!
i need to do this! oh how i wish ikea were closer
a postage stamp font - very cool
five embroidery stitches - i've always wanted to learn blanket stitch
another cute paper purse
oilcloth pocket board from martha - i think you could make this out of paper covered chipboard
a pop up card
cool photo cube

phew - see what i mean too many links stored up!

more sneaks from kenner road

you probably don't know this about me, but when i'm working on a kit for a design team gig, i always make it a goal to try to use every piece in the kit at least once. i had a few bits that i hadn't used so i did another layout and a card last night. i didn't use one of the pieces of cardstock in the kenner road september kit, but everything else was used! yay me! click photo for larger view.

tagged

ok i have to do this because i've been tagged by three wonderful ladies...and this will keep me from getting tagged again right?
heidi stork - the fabulous owner of freehand scraps, she's adorable, talented and has an eye for mixing product!
paula gilarde - what can i say about paula? she is my cheerleader and such a great online friend. we need to get together soon!
candice palmer - one of the most talented simple scrapbookers i know and such a great photographer. all that and she's super sweet too!
Here are the rules:
(1) The winner can put the logo on their blog.(2) Link the person you received your award from.(3) Nominate at least 6 other blogs. (4) Put links of those on yours.(5) Leave a message on the blogs of the people you’ve nominated.
here they are in no particular order...
rachael - fabulous scrapper and a great friend. she is great at coming up with new techniques and ideas for her pages. all that and she's gorgeous too!
doris - have you seen doris' work? all of that perfect embellishing. she's offering an online class in embellishing too. she's someone i gchat with all the time - just a wonderful person
denise - denise used to own a scrapbook store in conencticut. we used to scrap together all the time. then she moved to missoula. i miss her. her style is so funky and fun. she's been in people magazine too - she's famous!
mel - ah mel. i love mel. she's one of the most humble talented scrappers i've ever met. she epitomizes what i'd like my style to be. sigh. she is just so good and i'm so glad we are friends!
lisa - a scrapbooker who is about 180 degrees away from me in terms of style. i'd describe her style as soft, romantic and perfectly embellished. lisa is the glitter queen and she is about the sweetest person i've ever met online.
and last but certainly not least...
dina - i can barely talk about dina without feeling a lump in my throat. i wish dina wakley lived next door to me. i miss her! i can not even begin to express how much i love this woman. sigh. dina's also teaching a class at get it scrapped on art journaling. i wouldn't call dina a scrapbooker - dina is an artist through and through. she never ceases to amaze me never.
ok get to it ladies!

yep it's that time again. they've been piling up!
have fun!

design your life

i did it. i signed up for design your life at big picture scrapbooking. i've been wavering back and forth, but cathy finally convinced me. ok so she didn't personally email me or call me to say hey celeste you should sign up. but she keeps posting layout sneaks on her blog that are just too compelling for me to handle. on top of all that my cathy-worship is unparalleled and to be able to learn from greatness - well i was sucked in. so let me know if you are taking the class as well - i'd love to be able to discuss it with you!
